My insights on the Scholarship

Achieving the Gilman Scholarship is not easy if you are aiming be a recipient. Writing two essays may not be hard for many people. However, writing two great essays, one on the purpose of why you choose to study abroad and the other on a follow-up service plan to spread your experience that Gilman provided, can be difficult.I wrote more than 5 drafts for each essay. With the help of my study abroad adviser, I was able to find the grammar errors and ways to improve my essays and get my point across to the reader. Truthfully the process was hard and time consuming.

However once I submitted my essays, I felt good about myself. I knew I tried my best. By the mid of April, I received my e-mail from Gilman announcing my award.I was overwhelmed to find out I have the honor to become a recipient of a total of $2500. The next step was to log on to the site and accept the award and fill in personal information. After that, I was all set to start my adventure abroad.

I am in Hong Kong now for one week. I am starting to adapt the weather, culture, language, and life. This is just the beginning of my journey and thanks to Gilman for giving me the chance to experience such wonders.I will also be posting many highlights and exciting moments of my journey for my whole time abroad. Please keep up=)
